Do you have a clear direction of academic interest? If yes, then a Ph.D. might be a good choice for you after MBA or MPhil. But what really is a Ph.D. and what is all the fuss about attaining Ph.D scholarships?  Ph.D. is an abbreviation for Doctor of Philosophy and is globally recognized as an academic degree awarded by higher education institutes and institutes of business management.

A Ph.D degree usually fits well in the fields of research, and for a more theoretically inclined subjects such as philosophy, mathematics or computer sciences etc. However, the scope has extended to many fields and subjects exploring new directions.

The candidate who opts for a Ph.D. submits a research paper or a dissertation based on original and extensive research in the selected field. To help the student through the process the university allots the candidate a supervisor who guides them through the process. The specificities of the degree differ depending on the area of interest you are exploring, and so does the merit of Ph.D scholarships at every university.

Ph.D. ranks the highest level of education a candidate can achieve. This degree follows a master’s degree, except for a few institutes that allow bachelor’s degree holders to proceed with it. Universities offer Ph.D. scholarships and other reliefs on fee structure to support the student in their research and paper. 

Traditionally a Ph.D. degree takes up to four years of full-time involvement in which a substantial piece of research is presented. Different universities of Lahore and Multan offer on-campus close supervision throughout the process. 

Selection Criteria?

We may have made it sound too easy earlier, but it is not so. To opt for a Ph.D. program you must show proficiency in the area of the interest in terms of approved research and previous background of undergraduate study in the relevant field. 

Proposal Requirements

To present a proposal for a Ph.D., candidates must submit one that outlines the following: 

– Proposed research topics and previous work 

– Highlight or share evidence of awareness within the field 

– Establish a valid analysis 

– Identify how research can contribute 

– Suggest a relevant hypothesis 

– Explain your research methodology
